Hoogstraat, Bree (1900)

The post card above shows the Hoogstraat in the Belgian village of Bree around the turn of the century (approx. 1900). At the front, on the right side you can see the store of Pabou and Moeneke. If you look very closely you can read on the sign "Brusten Jonkers Coiffeur, Velos en Naaimachienen", translated: "Brusten Jonkers Hairdresser. Bicycles, Sewing machines". In the door opening of the store is a lady standing, this is possibly Moeneke or one of her daughters, but it might as well just be a customer... Who will tell? This post card was stamp dated in 1903 - the year in which the Brusten-Jonkers family moved to Antwerp.
